What's the best Ritualist Armor?
I almost have enough to buy this sexy armor (Need 42 more Amber and some more money for Black Dye).
However, I'm not sure about what type of Armor to purchase.
I was thinking Halycon (+7 Energy) or Mystics (+15AL while using Skills)
Any ideas?

If you were planning on getting multiple sets, then I'd say go for the +armor sets. But if this is going to be a 'use most of the time' set.... Then I'd go with +energy.

Shaman. You need spirits with Channeling, you need spirits with Restoration, you need spirits with Commune. PvE, PvP, it doesn't matter- Rts do spirits. I use Shaman chest/legs, and nrg hands, feet. I think it's the best combo. Having 75 armor while controlling 3 spirits is a blessing versus 60.

I use Harbringer's which is useful in any build because I don't have enough space to carry multiple armor sets. Can never have too much hp.
I was considering the + energy set as well, but I found that max energy doesn't really matter when you have energy management.

I disagree. Restoration and Channeling only have 1 worthwhile spirit.

I don't like Harbringers because +35 HP is virtually nothing.
And Ritualists don't have much non-Elite energy management except Boon of Creation.
Yes, this is a "use all" set since I can't afford two sets of that Armor. Hehe.

I think that a stable Rt build revolves around spirits. It doesn't really matter what attribute you pull them from. Like with my Channelling build I use either proto or dam Commune spirits or Recup/Life from Restoration. So... I think it's fair to have chest/legs Sham. 5-15 armor does make a huge difference. I like high armor on a softie, why I been using Tranquil Was Tanasen, too.
My biggest concern is what headpiece to pick. I think Spawning and Channeling are my picks.

Oh yes!! I'm in love with this armour to . Officialy the best looking armour in the game IMO. I'm At 50 amber, but I friggin' hate the grind with an un-godly passion.
As to your question. I generally use the weapon skill armour. When I'm taking damage, I usually activate Weapon of Warding asap for regen and 50% blocking (btw, why the hell don't ele's have a skill to block 50% of all physical attacks? So Rangers can own you? Great ), so I can kyte while regening/healing and also be at 80 AL (+5 staff mod). Vital Weapon is also a good alternative. The other mods...
Harbinger's? Urgh...
Mystic is ok but not constant.
Shaman's? Spirits can get killed. Good players always go for Destruction, Blood Song, Displacement, Dissonance etc. With such heavy recharge, your gonna be left without your armour bonus. Weapon spells as far as I know, are not enchantments, so can't be removed .
Oracles is really good. A definate favourite. If only the AL bonus was as high as the others. I can't see why it has a lower value than the others. Mighty Was Vorizon? Nope, that can also stack with the other + armour mods to (bar the weapon spell one I think. The only real limitation). Plus, switching weapons makes you drop you ashes anyway. Hope this get's fixed.
Halcyon's? +7 nrg is all well and good. Around a 30% increase to base nrg. However. Ritualists have 4 pips of regen. They don't have stupidly expensive skills (unlike ele's) so with good management, you won't have too many energy probs. Get your self a +10 & +5(mod) energy staff for 45 total energy and get better armour.
Note: Incidentally, for those that like to mess with energy deniel enemies, Get yourself The SpiritSpeaker (wand. +15 nrg, -1 regen) and a crafter focus(+27 energy total, +30 hp, -1 regen). +2 regen is somewhat bad, but it will bring you to an Ele standard energy total and give you some emergency rations on switch. I say emergencies only as the regen still counts when you switch back. Ouch...

Got the Halycon after all, and the Energy helps. I stay out of Combat most of the time (PvE/Alliance), so Armor isn't THAT beneficial...
In the meantime...

Just a quick note, if you are a spirit caster remember they are NOT a skill. If you get armor +X while using skills it will not count if you are raising spirits, only spells.

I don't think you are quite right on this. A binding ritual is not a spell, but it is a skill (like any of the 8 skills you bring on your skill bar). (One sidenote about this is you will not get fast cast/fast recharge from your weapon or from a mesmer's fast casting that only affects spells). So the Mystic armor should work when you are casting a binding ritual as well.
